Disable device wipe policy for BYOD

Hi,

We want to create another user account in Afaria, with  admin access, but  the  second administrator should  be able to  fully control the Enterprise devices  but for BYOD devices he should not be able to carry out the device wipe policy..

What kind of policy should be on BYOD devices,so Afaria admin can control the devices.

Karthik,

You need to go to the Server Roles page and set up a group that that second individual will be a member of.  Edit the group and under the security actions - personal devices, you can uncheck things such as remote wipe and remote wipe email.  You may also wish to remove or restrict access to other options on this page.  Do not remove the options for the security actions - corporate devices.  Then save it.   This account will only have access to wipe the devices marked corporate. Hope this helps!

Hello Karthik,

This is to let you know that we can find the device is personal or corporate by clicking on Devices ->Owner -> Corporate/Personal in Afaria Admin UI. All devices(both corporate/personal) can be listed in Admin UI even the enrollment is not done through SSP.

Moreover, if you would like to get the list of only personal devices enrolled in Afaria, please create a custom view as shown below in the Screenshot:

As well, to get the list of corporate devices enrolled in Afaria you can see the below screenshot:

Please take a look at the KBA# https://i7p.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/2125234 .

Hope this helps. Please let us know for any further queries.

Hello Karthik,

Once you get the personal/BYOD device list through Custom view, you can select/hide few settings for those selected devices which shouldn't be used by the BYOD device users.

Hope this info helps you. If you feel the question is answered, please mark it as "Answered" so that the customers with similar query can view the answer in this thread.
