Hi,

Our client would like to restrict users  from removing the Afaria client app, once  device (Android/iOS) gets enrolled to the afaria server..Is it possible through Afaria  without using third party software's like apple device enrollment program or Android for Workplace.

If in case the user removes the app,how to notify the Afaria administrator so next time the administrator can block that user or the mobile device

Hello Karthik,

Thank you for contacting SAP Community Network.

This is to inform you that once the user enrolls the device in Afaria, the user couldn't be restricted to remove the Afaria client app on the device without using DEP or Android For Work. These programs enable the BYOD/Personal device to work on business workplace. However, if it is shipped via the MDM Server, the client will come back again even after app removal on the device.

Moreover, if the administrator would like to know the users/devices remove the app, you should create and execute a custom view with devices no client in the software inventory.

I have created for you with the columns and the criteria included. Please look into the attached screenshots to execute the custom views: 1. Personal Devices/BYOD for all device types(except Android) 2. Corporate Devices for all device types(except Android)

For Windows and iOS devices, we have separate process one for MDM and one for client. But, for the android devices if the user remove the app on the device the Afaria won't be able to communicate the Afaria server if there is no client available on the device. Hence, the custom view cannot be executed for the Android devices to look for the Afaria app installed on the device.

Hope this helps you clear your queries. Do let me know for any further queries.

Kind Regards,
Sushmitha

Hi Karthik,

If you configure iOS Afaria Application page located under Server -> configuration -> Enrollment, Afaria server will resend the client if client is removed from the iOS device.

If the Android devices are Samsung devices then you can configure Device Manager Policy to ensure users are unable to uninstall Afaria client from their Samsung devices.

Thanks,

One information I would like to add in regards to Samsung safe Device Manager policy. This policy will only work on Samsung MDM 4.0 and above devices.

Thanks,
Sejal
