What is the level of testing required after an upgrade of Oracle only?

We are about to upgrade Oracle from 11.2.0.3 to 12c on the databases in our ERP 6.0 systems (DEV, QAT then PROD) and I have a couple of questions.

1)  What level of testing is required if we are upgrading the database only?

2)  Do we need to freeze all development in this ERP landscape or can we transports from a system with a 12c database to a system with an 11.2.0.3 database?

Depends on functional (ORA errors) or performance testing requirements of your business critical processes. For the latter there are tools with costs like Real Application Testing or you can do it manually if there are only a few critical business processes.

No need to freeze development. The database layer is abstracted.
