Inspection plan and routing

Hello  ,

I have a confusion between inspection plan and routing in quality management .

Could you clarify the difference ?

Thanks.

Both of them have mostly similar fields but inspection plans are used for defining the inspection parameters for inspecting the materials after Goods Receipt against Production or Purchase Order. There could be many other usages also with which inspection plans are created like for manual inspection or customer returns.

Routing is specifically used for defining operation sequences for manufacturing in PP module. It can also contain MICs. The use of routing in QM module is for in-process inspection activities with 03 lot origin.

In short if you want to carry out in-process inspection you should define MICs in routing or recipe and in all other events you use inspection plans.
