Hi experts,

We are planning a migration from to SEM-BPS to BW-IP / BPC 10.1 Unified.

I need some guidance about running objects and functions migration.

Kind Regards

Hi Pablo,

as far as I know there will be no migration possible since the type of objects used in BPS is totally different to IP.

Only for exit functions there is a little bit of migration possible - there was a document here somewhere about how to change the code so that it can work with IP.

You will have to create all planning objects in the new IP version.

Cubes can be used as before.

Hi Cornelia.

First of all, thanks for your reply.

Do you know if we can recycle infocubes, infoobjects, or if the same infocube can be shared by BPS and IP?

We are considering an escalated upgrade of BPS.

Kind regards

Hi Pablo,

yes, everything up to the cube is exactly the same.

You could write into the same cube using BPS masks and IP masks.

But I am not sure how characteristic relationships and data slices would behave in this case, because these are now a sort of cube-object in IP.

Hi Cornelia,

Could you explan in more detail the concept "BPS masks and IP Masks"?

Unfortunately, I am not an expert at IP.

Kind regards

Hello Pablo,

please have a look into SAP help, it´s to much to explain it here.

Basically the difference is, that IP is based on queries included into Bex workbooks or web applications.

BPS is based on planning layouts included into BSP.
