What is the recommendation of SAP on HANA Hardware , could we use non-certified hardware or the only certified appliances are recommended.
Please share some valuable information with SAP recommendation as proof .
Uneeb,
This is what I understand.
You have two different approach to get HANA run on production:
1. Get HANA appliance from HW vendor with HANA pre-installed.
* HW vendor will install HANA and tune for you
* One-stop shop, cover Linux license, HW/SW support from single window.
* These are usually high-end model, more expensive.
2. Get TDI Certified/Supported server and/or storage, then install Linux+HANA by yourself.
* These Servers & Storages should be in the TDI white list
check Certified SAP HANA® Hardware Directory.
* You have to install HANA on your side. SAP require E_HANAINSXXX Certified person to do it.
* Purchase Linux license by yourself.
* You need to coordinate multiple vendors to resolve issue.
* Validate your setup by running HWCCT (Hardware Configuration Check Tools)
* CHEAP. You can even use existing box.
For non-production box, check this blog. You can save more.
TDI : Tailored Datacenter Integration, you better check it out.
