Not able to see "SAP HANA MDX Provider" IN EXCEL 2010

Hi,

I've installed HANA Client/Studio (both 64 bit) on my machine Windows 7 which also 64 bit and Excel 2010 is 32 bit.

I was able to create SYSTEM DSN successfully using "ODBC Data Sources (64-bit)" from Administrative tools but not able to see "SAP HANA MDX Provider" IN EXCEL 2010 in the data connection wizard-->Other/Advanced-->Data Link Properties.

Could you please let me know the cornerstone causing the issue and provide workarounds for the same.

FYI.. I tried "ODBC Data Sources (32-bit)" option as well but there its not showing up HANA Driver to create a DSN for the same.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,

Sree

Hi Sreedhara,

      Install the 32 bit client and check. That should work.

Yes Sir.

Done. All set now after installing 32 bit client.

Thank you so much for your tip.

Can you please tell me where you found the 32 bit client installation as I am having the same problem.

you don't really need it as long as the DLL is properly registered and you have a copy of your ODS file.

I have registered the DLL and that made to visible change in Excel - but what is an ODS file.

i don't currently have acces to a HANA server, but was able to 'upgrade' this type of file to 91 from below 70:

<html xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"

xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

<head>

<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/x-ms-odc; charset=utf-8">

<meta name=ProgId content=ODC.Cube>

<meta name=SourceType content=OLEDB>

...

You should be able to export it from Excel once you can see it as a data source. please note that it's not secure and can be used for testing only.

as long as this file dll is in your studio/client installation path: SAPNewDBMDXProvider.dll you should be able to use an ODC file to connect Excel to HANA.

the ODC file starts like this:

<html xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"

xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

<head>

<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/x-ms-odc; charset=utf-8">

<meta name=ProgId content=ODC.Cube>

<meta name=SourceType content=OLEDB>
