Hi all,
We are currently debating on following Queries and looking for answers.
3. If new customers are planning to implement S4HANA, what should we suggest for them for reporting? Should suggest them to install SAP BW or HANA Live Or Both?
Thanks
Mirana
Hi Mirana,
Thanks for raising important questions in the forum.
Please see responses below.
1) Hierarchy handling with SAP HANA Live: Please refer to the hierarchy content available with SAP HANA Live RDS which is based on SAP HANA Live Virtual Data Models. With the upcoming version of SAP HANA Live RDS V8, there will be some more content available with hierarchy for ex: profit center hierarchy, cost center hierarchy etc.
2) Both the approaches SAP BW as well as SAP HANA Live are valid and well recommended by
SAP based on customer use cases. Please refer to this blog Go Hybrid - SAP HANA Live & SAP
BW Data Integration! and configuration guide H35 available with SAP HANA Live RDS. Having mentioned that starting with SAP Hana Live for real time operational reporting and introducing
SAP BW on SAP HANA later when analytics requirements demand this, is a reasonable and cost effective approach.
3) With SAP S/4HANA, reporting via SAP BW will still be a valid and recommended approach.
With SAP S/4HANA, there will be even more enhanced option available based on Open Core Data Services views. Please note, that SAP Hana Live ECC-package will not run on SAP S/4HANA, however there is a dedicated package of SAP HANA Live VDM’s for SAP Simplified Finance.
For more details
please refer to SAP S/4HANA roadmap and analytics roadmap accessible via this link.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Somesh
