Documents with Validity Date Expiration Alert

Dear All,

I am new to DMS Module. I will be having below requirement from Client.

My Company want to maintained all Company legal document like Insurance, Commercial/Trading licences etc. in SAP. These all documents will be having specific validity dates. My client want trigger specific alerts/workflow message before expiration of these documents to legal department so new document will be uploaded with new dates.

Let me know if these requirement can be achieved via DMS and how? Also, if there is any other method with which we can map this requirement.

Maintain Validity Date for Documents

It seems you need to have a Characteristic VALID_TO (if nor two for VALID_FROM also) and add this to the respective document class. After that it will be ABAPer's job to program and retrieve Validity date vs Document number and then trigger mails, if the VALID_TO date falls within specified limit. And this program should be background scheduled for periodic running, may be Daily (at midnight at reduced system loads).
