question about transport and upgrade

I wasnt able to find the question in official documentation. I hope you can help.

We are in process of starting an EHP7 upgrade from EHP5.

Many times, during SP stack upgrade I faced the case when we are prompt by SUM to release a transport that is blocking the upgrade.

Does that mean that all transports must be released before we start to upgrade the Dev system?

I didnt see this as pre requisites in SUM guide but was wondering what was making SUM stopped.

Is it just because it is open?

Hello Adel,

You do not need to release all transports. You just have to release transports that contain open repairs to SAP delivered objects.

eg: Transports that may contain corrections made by applying OSS notes.
