Substance nature in Specification Header

Hello Gurus,

While creating the specification. I found substance nature. In the help menu it says that it is used to define whether some of their ingredients are polymers or whether they are polymers themselves.

Why it talks about polymers. Is there any specific regulation which makes SAP to put this option.

Dear V M

generally you can use the "substance nature" to "group" specifications (it is a "simple" subciteria). You can use this information in inquiries in CG02, for ABAP logics (e.g. output variants, rulesets, WWI layouts) etc. and this is I would assume general best practise to do so.

Coming back to your question: "whether some of their ingredients are polymers or whether they are polymers themselves." => polymers are "special" regulated objects in manyy legislation/regulations. You would need books to describe the differences per regulation. Only an example: in REACH regulation: you need not to register the polymer as such but the so called "building blocks". But in e.g. GHS EU you must take care regarding polymers and "classify/labelm" them if needed (they are part of the EU classification/labeling substance register). This is one reason why it is important to may be group specifications in the sense;: they are polymers or they contain polymers. This is a very useful information on the top for the business as they need this information to use other "guiding prinicples"  in maintaining the specification in EHS. The REACH polymer topic as an example is reflected in the SVT logic. Here you have one special example there a SAP logic exists (and delivered by SAP). For other stuff you need to take care your own,

On the top: the management of "content" on LIST_SUB and PURE_SUB level depends on the knowledge if the specificaiton is a "polymer" or not.

PS: topic is discussed rarely. One example: ; could be of interest as well

As per SAP, its defined as :

Substance nature groups substances according to whether some of their ingredients are polymers or whether they are polymers themselves.

In one of the query CB provide more info on this: (The "Substance nature" is only a term used to "classify" an object. You can use it on the top if needed e.g. as selection criteria etc. E.g. as you canuse thisfiled for "simply" inquiries and you have selected "PURE_SUB" you will get very fast the hit list.)

Reference Link:

So it upto you if you want to have a substance nature or not.

Its not related to any regulations from SAP.

This is solve your query.
