BO 4.1 report export facility in *.xls format

Hi All,

Do you ever come accross this requirement - to get BO report output in "*.xls" format in BO 4.1.

We recently got moved from 3.1 to 4.1 and migration going on, we have a requirement from onr of the client to get the output in "*.xls" format, so that they can utilize a macro (which is used for their in day to day activity), which is not supporting "*.xlsx" format.

We tried setting the schedule output to *.xls instead of %.EXT% during schedule and it throws error when opening the excel output. As by default BO 4.1 exports in *.xlsx format once scheduled.

Can anyone help us in this situvation.

It is a natural error because you are renaming xlsx to xls (the file header will have still xlsx as the file type - open with hex editor and you can see this).

If you want to use macro, you can use xlsm - give a try.

There is no option currently to choose which format you want to export (say excel 2003 or 2007) and also I remember seeing an idea in SAP idea place which you can vote up.
