Combined Order Processing - Units of Measure

Former Member

We set up a combined order process a few years ago to cover product in multiple orders that are using a common machine run (in this case, we are freeze drying product.  Numerous orders are run though the drier together).  There was a limitation in place at the time that restricted you to only combining orders where the goods being made were in the same unit of measure.  In reality, we have product in numerous units of measure all going through the machine at the same time.

I was not able to find any SAP notes updating this, and am wondering if anyone knows a work-around.  Currently, we simply process a combined order set for each unit of measure, but this causes extra data entry, doesn't truely reflect traceability, and doesn't quite spread costs the way we would like.

Hello

This thread was moved to the space SAP for Mill Products & Mining, as the order combination is a DIMP functionality.

Hello Michael,

from my industry (metals) we typically use KG as a common base uom, independent whether we talk about tubes, sheets, plates etc. Alternative uoms may differ, but base uom is KG:

What are your base units of measure in your examples?

hello,

have you already seen the SAP help documentation ?

Units of Measure in Order Combinations

After the original orders have been selected, the system checks whether:

  • The basis quantity in the original orders agrees (= is equal)
  • The unit of measure for entry or production agrees or whether the quantity can be converted using alternative units of measure

Caution:

If the basis quantity does not agree or the production unit of measure cannot be converted, the system terminates the combination process.

Please scroll down at the help page and compare the listed examples with your case.

Greetings, stefan
