Grade Inspection lot or divide inspection lot quantity.

Dear Gurus,

Need urgent help, I am implementing QM in a textile industry, here after quality inspection a single batch can have different grades,

for e.g. Suppose 100m of fabric is inspected, out of which 50m of fabric is of 'A'Quality, 30m is of 'B' quality & 20m is of low quality 'C'.

How to achieve this.

Thanks in advance!!!

Warm Regards,

Hi,

Believing that you'll still post the quantity into unrestricted, you can help yourself with different storage locations. You can create storage location each for A, B and C. This is applicable if there is no change in material but only the gradation (valuation) has changed

Thus, when you are done with inspection, post the QI stock to A, B and C for 50m, 30m and 20m respectively (all into Unrestricted).

Besides, if the scenario involves the material split, you can still post the QI stock to 'New material' as per the parting.

How are you planning on identifying the various grades in IM?

I would think you'll need to batch manage the material and decide on a convention and use split valuation.

See this topic for some info:  https://scn.sap.com/thread/943054

See SAP help here: Split Valuation - MM - Material Price Change (MM-IV-MP) - SAP Library

Once split valuation is set up for the material, you should be able to post the batch into new batches, (new Material stock line).  If the batch number is 339320 then post to 339320-G1, 339320-G2, etc..You'd then select the valuation type for the new batch number that is appropriate.

You could get fancy on the batch characteristics, create batch charcteristic called "GRADE" and add some ABAP code to it via a dependency that would look at the last two digits or the batch number, or the valuation type selected, and set the value of GRADE or G1, G2 or G3 as appropriate.

Then use batch determination to select the worst grade acceptable to the customer.

Hi

If I am right there will be 3 different material code or valuation for the material as the price will vary for different grade. So while giving UD and stock posting post it as new material. Hope this will do.
