Invalid arithmetic construction IQ error

Hi,

We are having the following error message after migrating form IQ 12.7  to 15.4 ESD#4. This happens when executing a SQL statement form dbisql and directly from an ETL( Data stage).

The error code is : "SQLSTATE: QBC56" which is mapped to  "invalid arithmetic construction".

I couldn't find any details in the manuals  with the exception of the type and error class.

Thank you

Regards

Jose

Hi,

Could you test the query with the following option?

Workaround : set temporary option core_Options13=33554432;

Please let me know it's working or not.

Hi,

I would also recommend install patch ESD#5.

Hi Tayeb,

The workaround form Gi-Sung Jang worked.

So  ESD#5 does include the fix or is it just a recommended action ?

Thanks a lot

Jose

Hi,

I think that The problem is caused by CR#691261(fixed in Iq16).

Here are related KBAs.

1) KBA 1996092

https://i7p.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/1996092

2) KBA 1916251

https://i7p.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/1916251

According to KBAs, In IQ 15.3 or 15.4, a specific option should be set to avoid this problem as a workaround.

Set option PUBLIC.Core_Options13=33554432 ; //disabling the contiguous bitmap scan option of Enhanced Column scan in 15.3+

So If you want to fix this problem in IQ15.4, I think you need to open an Incident for this issue.

Hi Jose,

The related CR and KBA are pointed out by Gi-Sung.

My advice to install ESD5 is due to a couples of important issues fixed in this specific ESD. You can have a look in the coverletter for more details.

As far as I know, due to the issue you reported and other issues, most of 15.4 Customer run IQ with

PUBLIC.Core_Options13=33554432.

That is recommended by Support for 15.x versions.

Regards,

Tayeb.
