Difference between universe creation in IDT and Power Designer

We can generate a universe in power designer from a physical model and also in IDT. So my question is when we will go with IDT and when we will go with Power designer.What are the basic things we can do in IDT for universe creation but not in Power designer.

Hi,

The PowerDesigner tool that build universe is a one shot tool based on the Physical Data Model.
You can create the fact, measure, measure and dimension sets in PowerDesigner then create the universe for BusinessObjects.

After that, you edit/modify/enhance your universe directly in IDT.

If you do not create the multi-dimensional diagram in PowerDesigner, the tool can anyway help you to "guess" the facts and dimensions and create a default universe (better guesses than IDT itself).
The edition/modification of universe is still an IDT task.

Creating the universe directly in IDT will not benefit from your PowerDesigner models history.
