DB Upgrade in SAP System

Dear Experts,

We are planning to upgrade Our DB to MS SQL 2012  from MS SQL 2005 version. From BASIS end what are the Pre & post steps to be performed before and after completing upgrade.

Do we need to run anything in SWPM/sapinst?

Before stating the upgrade you have check your SAP system base requirement, Kindly refer the SAP Notes
