Hello expert,

is it possible to restore ASE from a backup taken with ASE 15.7 to a ASE 16?

Any special post action or command line to perform this?

Is it technically possible?

Hello Mark, thank you for the kind answer.

After the restore is done do I have to do any special action?

Ideally I would like to create an SAP system in the same release of the original with just the variant of ASE 16 and after restore  the backup taken from ASE 15.7 to it.

Hi Bruno,

Go through the following notes, as you have not provided enough detail really.

1585981   SYB: Ensuring Recoverability for Sybase ASE

1588316   SYB: Configure automatic database and log backups

1611715   SYB: How to restore a Sybase ASE database server (Windows)

1618817   SYB: How to restore a Sybase ASE database server (UNIX)

Also if you are doing a system copy different sid you will have to use the load command a bit differently.
