MDG-M Reference characteristic - value cannot be selected

Hello Experts,

We are implementing SAP MDG 7 with Standard MM Data Model.

We are getting below warning in classification data copy while creating new material using reference material.

Reference characteristic - value cannot be selected

Message no. C1807

Diagnosis

The characteristic to which you want to assign values is a reference characteristic in the SAP System. You cannot select a value.

Any idea on this issue?

Please help.

Please check the classes & characteristics assigned to your source material. I'm pretty sure those contain reference characteristics that reference a field of the material itself. These chars cannot be set, as they mirror one of the material fields itself.

This is of course a bug, and if the SNOTE

2105519 - Reference material with reference characteristics not transferred completely

is not fixing it, then you should open an OSS for this.

Hello Jürgen,

Yes, we have one reference characteristic which refers to Product Hierarchy field of Material.

We applied your suggested SNOTE 2105519. And the issue resolved.

Now the reference characteristics are getting transferred correctly.
