Functionality of Document tab in BOM creation CS01.

I have created BOM using the Material tab in CS01, can anyone share the functionality of the Document tab page, which is next to the Material tab.

Hi ANthony,

ITs is related to BOM componets document.

Bill of Material (BOM)

A bill of material (BOM) describes the different components that together create a product. A BOM for a bicycle, for example, consists of all the parts that make up the bicycle: the frame, the saddle, wheels, and so on.

Configuration Settings

Go to MM01 (T-Code) and Press enter

Create a Material with Item category Group ERLA

Create another two materials as sub-item with item category group NORM

Go to MB1C (T-Code)

Mention Movement Type, Plant, and Storage Location and press Enter

Here we have to Post Stock and save it and Exit

Configure BOM Item

Path

Click on Logistics

Click on Production

Click on Master Data

Click on Bills of Materials

Click on Bills of Materials

Click on Material BOM

Click on CS01-Create

Here we have to give our Material for BOM item category Group ERLA

Give Our Plant -- BPS0

Give BOM Usage Type—5 and press Enter

Here we have to give Sub Item Material and Quantity and Save it and Exit

Go to VA01 (T-Code)

Create a Sales Order and Give Main Material and Absolve the BOM Effect Save it

A complex document may be made up of several documents, such as a program, technical drawings, papers, and photographs. These related information and documentation objects are grouped together as a unit using a document structure – a BOM for a document.

In effect, you create a BOM for a document info record. This "BOM" is known as a document structure.

You can find additional information on how to maintain document structures in the component CA – Document Management System . In the SAP-Library select  > Cross-Application Components >Document Management System .

Dear,

This is to store few technical specifications  and product specification documents and functioning of  BOM assigned. If you have DMS -Document management system in place,you can adopt this.

For example, if you want to maintain few bill of materials for a material, and you want to assign statutory or regulatory related documents for those BOM you can assign with DMS Classification system.

For engineering point of view you can assign the technical drawings of spare parts.In SAP in this tab you have item category, based on that you can proceed.

Check the settings of DMS

spro--img--cross application component--Document management--control data.

Use class type as "017" for DMS

Hi Pardhu,

Would like to reconfirm with you that in the Document tab section, we can assign documents like technical drawings to the subitems of the BOM, and it will be delivered to the customer along with the subitems?

Dear,

Yes, but user system needs to have AUTO CAD etc..to read those documents.You need to have the DMS configuration for such type of document types.

You can check with document type " KPR - Engin/Des. Drawing"
