How can i change the rejection criteria of PI PO

PI is rejecting some special characters which are entered in SAP.special characters which are causing the error in PI. As per the analysis for the case of asterisk ('), if we are directly typing in SAP the corresponding ASCII Code is &#039.Where as if you are typing the same in MS Word and pasted it to SAP, the ASCII generated is different. At that time PI will not accept it. PI reject such data. What is the solution for this issue? Please advice.

' is a pre-defined XML character (' ' apostrophe). HTML-code ' http://unicode-table.com/en/0027/ . Ideally SAP ECC should either send apostrophe as ' or ' in XML. Please check with SAP ECC admin team, why SAP is sending it as ' ?
