Restricting Users to CAT2 Entry for Time Entry

Hope someone can help. Am a little new to SAP. We have two time entry options here: CAT2 and ZHR_time. I do not know the history of why there were two set up, but we would like to restrict a set number of users (180+) so they can only use CAT2 entry so that we can have a consistent business practice. Is there a setting that can do this in the user profile of each person?

Have you executed both transaction? Are functionality same for both transaction?

if yes then check with basis consultant to remove ZHR_time transaction from user Roll.

check by ZHR_time transaction same data entry profile is using as was for CAT2 transaction if yes then why these two transaction in the system?

if not then may be for special purpose organization is carry both transaction. but you have to know about it first.

then still want to restricted some user not to use ZHR_time then above option is better.

hi Richard,

SAP has authorization profiles in user profile to control user access. you should not give authorization for CAT2 transaction to User.

other way is to implement user exit.

Richard,

I assume ZHR_time is a custom transaction in SAP that was developed in your system for some reason.

The proper way is to disable that transaction from respective authorisation profile(s) and update the user roles if necessary.

CAT2 is a transaction, you can restrict at role.
