SAP Lumira Server for BI Platform (2 Server Deployment) Issues

Hi,

Just a quick shout to see if anyone has got this working in a 2 server deployment scenario.

We just can't seem to get it working, and the install documentation for this is a bit vague to say the least.

Here's our experience, maybe someone can tell me where we are going wrong:

- We have existing BI 4.1 SP5 Patch 3 server - all ok

- We have another server which was installed with same 4.1 SP5 patch 3  BI Pre-reqs: WACS, APS, AJS and these were clustered with our existing BI platform on install.

- We then installed SAP Lumira Server for BI Platform on this server, all ran through ok.

check the services in CMC and the Lumira Server shows as 'Running with Errors' and no Lumira documents will open.

I have checked the 'Known Issues' workarounds i.e 'UseSplitVerifier' and also SAP Note 2158512, but no joy.

We also have an SAP Case open (it's been open for 2 weeks!)

Anyone have any insight to this?

Hi Howard,

Request you to apply the note "2160516".

This could resolve the issue.

I've read the SAP Note, but the com.businessobjects.i18n.jar is all present in the installation directory specified in the SAP Note.

Hi Howard,

As mentioned that it is 2 server deployment, just wanted to confirm if the com.businessobjects.i18.jar is present on both the servers in the location mentioned in SAP note.

Hi Rahul,

The SAP Support Case Ref is 301788 / 2015.

I should add that I have applied SAP Notes 2160516, 2155345 and 2158512.

I really wish there was some proper install documentation I could follow, there is either something not correct in the install I have followed or there is some post installation configuration which needs to be completed.

Hi Howard,

For multiple server deployment, All server machines must be restarted after installing Lumira Server for BI Platform.

Could you please try it.

Hi All,

A quick update on this thread, i have got it working but it isn't pretty!

I hope someone can point us in the direction of where we may have gone wrong, in either our installtion, or some post installation configuration that is required.

Below are the steps we have followed to get this working.

1. We installed BI Platform on Server1 version 4.1 SP5 patch3

2. We installed the following components up to 4.1 SP5 patch 3 on
Server2 clustered with Server1(WEB Tier > Java Web Applications and
TOMCAT 7.0, Servers > Platform Services > Web Application Container,
Platform Processing Services, Platform Scheduling Services, RESTful Web
Service)

3. We then installed SAP Lumira Server for BI Platform 1.25 on Server2

4. We then applied the following SAP NOTES – 2160516, 2155345, 2158512

5. We then re-started both machines.

6. At this point we could send content to the platform from 1.25 Lumira
Desktop and pull content down but no BI Launchpad actions worked.

7. Then deleted the contents of Tomcat working directory on Server1

8. Copied then deleted the contents of the TOMCAT > WEBAPPS directory on
Server1

9. Copied the contents of the TOMCAT > WEBAPPS directory on Server2 to
the same folder on Server1

10. Re-started both systems and it works.

what do install log show ?

In your 2 server cluster, which services were running on on each machine before Lumira was installed on server 2 ?
Have you tried installing lumira on server 1 as well ?
did lumira added it service to existing APS or created new one ?

Thanks for the response.

We have another server which has the BI Platform and SAP Lumira server and that all works ok, however, we are trying to setup 2 server deployment as this is more realistic Production scenario for our clients.

Install all ran through ok, no problems shown.

All Platform services are running on BI Platform and our Lumira server has all the BI Pre-~Reqs, which are WACS, APS and AJS, plus the Lumira Server for BI Platform.

even tho install process gui showed no errors, the actual logs might have something interesting in them.

Hi Denis,

Yes, I have checked the install logs, about 70,000 rows, I don't know if you have ever looked but, there are always various fails and errors which may or may not be caught and replaced by default values in order to continue.

In short, unless you see the words 'FATAL ERROR' which I don't, it's difficult to draw any conclusions unless you are familiar with the actual install routine.

Going back to my original question have you installed a 2 server deployment?

if there are words "error" or "failed" in install log - something went wrong.

A good install will not have those. (well mostly )

I've done multiple server installs, just not with Lumira server.

What is your BI Sp05 patch3  installation platform for both machines?

Did you had LIMA installed on this machine in the past?

Hi Rahul,

Patch level is BI4.1 SP5 patch 3 on both machines.

Yes, Lumira server for BI Platform was previously installed on this machine and we had the same error then, however we have since re-installed and repaired the installation, but we restored the system back to prior to the point of the SAP Lumira for BI Platform install.
