Hi experts,

I get the following on executing r3trans:

2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = SYBASE --- "

So it seems like DBMS is not set correctly, right?

How can I set the SID there?

Thx to all for help, now I could handle it (thx also to siddesh regarding env info).

I had to change dbs_syb_server environment variable and sybase interfaces.

Kind regards

Hi,

Where we can change the environment variable and sybase interfaces...??

Found the log and the problem.

I want to execute the r3trans on a clone at the moment, which is having another host-name.

But in the log I still can find the old hostname.

I've adapted the instances file of sybase, is there another parameter which I have to adjust for the r3trans, that correct hostname is found?

Kind regards

Hello Christian,

I didn't understand this, when you say clone, have you performed system copy and created another system with a seperate application server ?

Have you adapted the profile parameters in /sapmnt/<SID>/profile ? Have you adapted the environment variables?

Hi Christian,

is it a java system or abap system?

You will get the trans.log in the current directory where you are running the R3trans -d

Suppose you run the command in usr/sap/>R3trans -d then trans.log will get created in /usr/sap directory which is in turn known as current directory.

it is a VM-clone not system copy.

(maybe you get confused due to other posts, which are related to system-copy, sorry for that)

thx for help, I try to find all parameters

And....I know about the porfile-files, but which one is used by r3trans?
I didn't thought that r3trans uses sap-profiles, I thought it uses own profiles.

Hello Christian,

R3trans doesn't use profile files, it uses environment variable, my query was pertaining to the thought that maybe a system copy was done.

if you are using a java only system r3trans execution isn't valid and will not yield you results.

Now that you mentioned its a VM clone, i am not able to understand why you are executing R3trans on the clone?

To check if database is up and running, you can check using database tools.

Hi Christian

After cloning you should not change the physical host name in CI & DI, you have to keep the system in the private network and take the action as required.

I know, but in case of a clone it is not that easy.

Hi,

Please check R3trans -d and check the trans.log for more information.

You need to ensure that DB is up and running.

Hi,

Just excute the R3trans -d in after login using sidadm user and check the trans.log in present dir.

Just paste the output of trans.log.
