Upgrade - interoperability with PI Questions

We are upgrading from ERP5 to ERP6 EHP6. We checked UDA for

any dependancy with Dual Stack PI 7.0 and it reported no

known dependancies however from note "1496212 - EHP6 for SAP ERP 6.0

SP stacks", I see a note that Java HUB has to be updated if its on a level

lower than SP Stack 18. We are on stack 16. Is this advisory only on

pure java stack systems. If not, does this mean that its

mandatory to update PI 7.0 dual stack to SP stack 31 or is it a best

practice advisory. I am unable to decide if its mandatory or if the

the note talks about best practice recommened levels.
