"Purpose of Payment" Tag in Outgoing Payment (XML) file for India

Hi All

While setting up DME tree for India , we need to populate field “Purpose of Payment” as per the norms laid down by the Reserve Bank of
India (RBI). Please help on following points if anyone has experience of developing DME tree for RTGS payment method of country India.

1. How the “purpose of payment codes” have been populated based on the vendor invoice
2. How DME tree configuration has been done for the XML Tag <CtgyPurp>

Hi Nitin,

Have you considered making use of the payment method - instruction keys assigned to the vendor invoice ? The values then can be translated to the corresponding values as required by the bank on the DME tree.

Hi Nitin,

First of all, you need to confirm with Bank that under which tag you need to add " Purpose of Payment".

Secondly, you need to understand what are the different purpose of payment you are using for your company.

Third, you can do the required changes in Transaction code: DMEE and add the logic for getting the purpose of payment using the User exit under the required tag.

It looks like it's not related to TRM.
Maybe you can ask the FI experts in the relative area.
