Material Transit time

Former Member

Most of our purchase orders are placed with external vendors via EXW / FOB / etc terms. We currently maintain Planned delivery time and GR processing time in the material master. We need a field to maintain material transit time in the MM and PO

Maintaining only the number of days would also solve our Purpose. Eg  transit time is known if the shipping instructions are known

Thanks

You can  create  shipping instructions  and  at the  time  of  PO ...in the  delivery  tab you  can maintain  the  shipping instructions from  the  drop down .

Hope  this  will  helpful  for  you .

Dear Sir

We have already customized the shipping instructions where can we maintain the shipping time frame?

Dear Bhushan

Actually it varies from Material to material and based on the Mode of Shipment. Not based on the vendor and we need it as a separate field not linked to the PDT. The PDT is used to determine the delivery date of the PO. When a vendor is given a PO with Inco term EXW he fulfills his obligation by handing over the items overseas. The transit time is the grey area then and we want this to be captured

The planned delivery time captures anything until the goods arrive there where your logistic process continue after the goods receipt. And vendor specific planned delivery times have their place in the info record.

For financial handover of ownership SAP has developed the valuated blocked stock concept with movement 107 and 109.

If want separate transit times then you might consider to implement transport management where you maintain the transit time in the routes.

Hi Mohammed,

Your PDT includes material transit time also. Do you want to maintain only transit time separately which I believe will be less that PDT?

Also does this transit time vary from vendor to vendor? if yes, then you might want to maintain this in a separate field in PIR rather than in MMR.
