SAP GBT Installation on same Logical System/Client as of SAP ERP System

Hi,

We have following queries regarding Installation of GBT within same logical system & Client as of SAP ERP System. (We know this is very much possible for same logical system, different Clients.)

1. Is this possible.

2. To make it possible are there any prerequisites.

3. We want to know if there will be any issue during transfer of Event/Transaction Data.

4. For Master Data can we bypass distribution of idocs through BD64 as it does not accept same sending and receiving logical system/Client,

Here we can use exit during distribution to idocs while sending idocs through custom program. Looking for better solution.

Hello Randeep,

installation of SAP GBT on top of SAP ERP is supported by SAP only if it is installed in different clients. Please see SAP GBT Administrators Guide for information about the deployment options.

Installing it in the same client of a SAP ERP system is not supported. The reason for this is the required replication of master data like material, batch, classification, vendor, customer via IDoc. Maybe this could be done with custom coding but we cannot support this from standard development. For the transactional data (network data) we do not see technical issues even if it is in the same client.

In regards to performance considerations we even do not recommend implementing a productive GBT on the same system as SAP ERP.
