Former Member

Dear Expert,

Am new in SAP and last week I installed SAP Solman 7.1 SR1 SP04 delivered by SAP (DVD's) while upgrading the stack using SUM tool 10 patch 12.

to SPS 11 got stuck.

SUM tool is asking the path of SAPcontrol  which is located in the executable folder   \\sensol\sapmnt\sml\sys\exe\uc\NTAMD64 which is set already in the environment settings. (PFA screenshot SAPcontrol)

I've notice that even the SAPMMC is loaded the environment setting is not because am getting error in event viewer -> application say's that

Cannot open Profile \\SENSOL\sapmnt\SML\SYS\profile\START_DVEBMGS00_SENSOL. (Error 53 ERROR_BAD_NETPATH: The network path was not found.) [ntservstart.cpp 1055].

Please help

thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the results.

The description for Event ID 0 from source SAP???_?? cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

There can be numerous causes of this error including excessive start-up entries, registry errors, hardware/RAM decline, fragmented files, unnecessary or redundant program installations and so on.

For me the issue is completely related with the OS installed here & would perform all the activities again on a freshly installed OS .

In addition suggest you to raise support ticket with OS vendor first or consult with OS team & as well as with SAP Support ( Which i'll raise after getting response from the OS experts if required ) .

Hope you'll find it helpful.

Good luck !!

Thank you Rana,

Suppose i will go for a clean installation can you give me some step how to upgrade what is the prerequisite in Solman 7.1 SP04 to SP11 which i got from SAP i have the stack file already it was included on the DVD's.

Shall i setup first the basic/preparation and technical system or shall i go immediately for the upgrade?

Many thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

you can perform the update from SP04 to SP11 direct.

After that is done successful, you have to do the transaction SOLMAN_SETUP with basis steps and system steps.

Did you fix your SUM issue?

Kind regards,

Christoph

Hi,

Could you share complete OS details here (Windows Server version) ,for me i would first check with OS event viewer to check for any host related issue if any ?

In addition could you confirm for host SENSOL is resolvable ( is DNS entry maintained for the host )

Suggest you to enter path \\<IP of server >\sapmnt\SML\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\  instead of

\\SENSOL\sapmnt\SML\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\   to re-execute the tool and share the results .

Good luck !!

Hi Rana,

OS version is win 2008 r2 sp1, yes am getting error in event viewer -> application

The description for Event ID 0 from source SAP???_?? cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Cannot open Profile \\SENSOL\sapmnt\SML\SYS\profile\START_DVEBMGS00_SENSOL. (Error 53 ERROR_BAD_NETPATH: The network path was not found.) [ntservstart.cpp 1055]

Also i tried  entering the IP instead the hostname but same errorplease see error below

Sapcontrol client could not perform action get parameter value on instance 1 Could not run OS process sapcontrol for action get parameter value. Could not start process sapcontrol. Error while executing process sapcontrol. java.io.IOException: CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified java.io.IOException: CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified

Hi Christopher,

Follow the below steps

1 . Goto run of the server

2. in run , type \\SENSOL

Now you will get sapmnt and saploc

Try to enter in sapmnt\SML\SYS\profile\ and try to open the start profile.

If you get a permission issue , then you need to correct it.

Also do check the start profile values.

Dear Ashutosh,

Thanks for the reply but i can access the folder no permission issue any idea why SUM is looking the path of SAPcontrol and why the environment setting is not upload during the startup of system.

Hi Christopher,

In that case , with which user you are running the SUM tool.

It should be <sid>adm user. if yes t

hen paste the content of start profile.

And in the meantime you can follow the below steps

- Stop the SUM tool

- Logoff from the server

- Login  again with <sid>adm

- Start the SUM tool again

Dear Christopher,

Can you enter the below path

\\SENSOL\sapmnt\SML\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\ in the screenshot

If the above does not work then follow the below steps

Also open the default profile and change the parameter

service/protectedwebmethods = NONE from SDEFAULT

Take a restart of the SAP system.

Retry the SUM tool

Hi Christopher,

Kindly answer the below query:

- Have you change the parameter to service/protectedwebmethods = NONE in DEFAULT.PFL?

- Run the below command on cmd and paste the output

sapcontrol -nr 1 -host SENSOL -prot PIPE -function ParameterValue DIR_INSTANCE

Dear,

Have you restarted the SAP system after making the required changes in the default profile

If yes,

Then start the SUM tool from begining.

Extract the SUM tool again and start the whole process.
