SAP ECC Installation struck at Import ABAP

Hi All,

I am currently installing SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 7 on Suse Linux 11 SP3. The database is SAP HANA Rev 82.

The installation is hung at import ABAP and log files are also not being updated at the OS level. Currently SAPSSEXC is being imported.

Please find the attached logs for reference. Kindly help.

PS: Rename the attachment logs.zip.txt to logs.zip.

Regards,

Abhishek

Hi All,

Sorry for the late response, was busy handling escalation calls and planning a backup plan Anyways the update was happening very slowly. It took about 38 hours to complete the DB import!! In the mean time tested the network and I/O, but everything seemed fine. Still not sure what was/is the problem.

Had to manually monitor the progress something like this for the tables which were getting updated.

select count(*) from INDTEXT

Have even upgraded the system without any issues. Thank you very much for your help guys, really appreciate it

Abhishek

Hi All,

A bit worried now. I am getting the following error message in the index server log, can someone guide me why this is happening?

Hello Abhishek,

Please upload the import log file and the indexserver trace file.

Can you also tell me if there are any files with the name *.oom.trc in your trace directory ?

I think you hit a OOM situation but need to see the traces/logs to confirm.

Kind Regards,

I see few issues in the index server trace, not sure whether it is related to the installation or not.

Hi Amerjit,

Yes, it is updating the tables at the DB level gradually, finally something to cheer about. I could see the count increasing.

Monitoring using the below command

select count(*) from INDTEXT

Hi Abhishek,

Just so that you get a feel for things, also look in the thread tab, you'll see what's going on.

I'd guess that your slowdown (hiccup) was down to merge operations.

INDTEXT will be about ~1 mill entries.

If you're happy to do so, close out the thread as resolved.

Cheers,

Amerjit

Hi Amerjit,

I find the below things under threads tab of my HANA studio.

I am not knowledgeable about SAP HANA.

Processing REPOSRC table took a lot of time, it had about 4 million records

Hello Abhishek,

Check your running threads in the HANA studio and also check the trace files on the HANA side.

Are all your HANA still services running ?

Hi Amerjit,

All the services are running fine.

Also no problem with the Database Ram which is currently 256 GB.

Active threads ?

Merge operations ?

Do you see the R3load connection in the studio ?

Hi Abhishek,

You have to use the latest patch of R3load for the kernel release.

Download the latest patch and retry the sapinst by stopping and starting it.

Issue generally occur with the Cluster tables but you can give a try by updating the R3load patches.

Install HANA studio and connect to the database using the SYSTEM user and check if the space usage is increasing.

Hi Reagan,

I executed the following query in SQL console and got the output

select count(*) from INDTEXT

Output

COUNT(*)

300,003

But log files in the OS level aren't getting updated.

Hi Siddhesh,

Yes I can see the process -

/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/uc/linuxx86_64/R3load -i SAPSSEXC.cmd -dbcodepage 4103 -l SAPSSEXC.log -c 100000 -loadprocedure dbsl -rowstorelist /install/tmp/sapinst_instdir/BS2013SR2/ERP607SR2/HDB/INSTALL/DISTRIBUTED/ABAP/DB/rowstorelist.txt -decluster
