Hi, what's the impact of creating sites through configuration in Sap retail System?

Hi Experts,

Business requirement is to have a production plant created through config in retail system and then ship the finished product to DC using STO's and Dc will be created as master data in retail system. please share your experience on business impact on this integartion of production plant and site in Retail?

Hi Govind,

In SAP Retail system, the options for creating plant from configuration is disabled. Means in SPRO screen, the execute button is not there for these options. So you will not be able to create plant through configuration in SAP Retail system where the retail switch is activated.

All the Retail related features will not support that plants.

To the best of my knowledge, Site created in Retail system using WB01 transactions can be used for production cycle to implement manufacturing scenario. Using article to article stock transfer you can transfer the stock of Finished Goods articles to trading articles and so on.

Various processes are available for this.

Amit, we are trying to create the site through enterprise definition thats again fall into config

path- SPRO- ENTERPRISE STRUCTURE-DEFINITION-LOGISTICS GENERAL- DEFINE PLANTS

So we are able to create palnts here and want to use them as production plants.

And we want to know the implications of using production plants in stock transfers and any other functionalities.

Hello Govind,

if you truly have SAP retail creating plants in this method is not the IS-Retail method of creating sites you will be creating plants are that SAP ERP specific that will leverage article masters using MM01,02,03 etc. You will not be able to create sites in this method and use them for IS-Retail specific process.

Please create your IS -Retail sites using the IS-Retail specific transactions of WB01, WB02, WB03. Here you can use the site profiles to create a DC and a Store.

Hi Govind,

Using these plants, of course you will be able to execute the standard SAP processes of Material managements.

Creating site (actually plant) with configuration, you will not be able use following retail functionalities:

• Merchandise distributions and Allocation tables
• Listing in Assortment as it accepts Site Customer
• Retail Article Master (MM41/MM42) and its extensions to retail sites
• Use DC as a supplying plant for store for MCs or all for articles and this will impact the source determination in retail processes

This is to give little idea and there can many more impacts as far retail processes are concerned.
