Hi,

In a shipper scenario we are following the below scenario-

a) Sales order in ECC creates OTR in TM

b)Outbound Delivery creation in ECC creates DTR in TM

c) Freight order in TM creates shipment in ecc.

Now question is if we are doing PGI followed by picking,packing where in the process flow actually should it be there.My thinking was that it should be part of process b.Can you kindly create since I assume once the goods issue is done and the stock qtn comes down then only it should be ready for shipment creation

Ideally the PGI should be done from the shipment in ECC.

For example, in a delivery based planning, based on the delivery quantity TM planning is carried out. Once a confirmation is received from the carrier, you can create ECC shipment. Once a ECC shipment is created you can pick and the deliveries for which the shipment is created. After that when the truck comes to the plant, load the material and trigger PGI from ECC shipment via activity profile setting. This is a standard process in manufacturing and chemical industry.

Can you inform in details how we do PGI based on shipment document via VT01N. Can you kindly elaborate the activity profile settings and how does it influence PGI?

Hi Dipak,

You need to assign activity profiles in configuration .These active profiles are nothing but variants. First define the variant using SE38 -> RV56ABST (program) and save the variant. Then you need to assign this variant to the activity profile in the configuration path SAP IMG -> Logistics Execution -> Transportation -> Shipments -> Define and Assign Activity Profiles

Once you maintain these active profiles,  execution happens via background program RV56ABST as per variant settings in the shipment document.

Hi,

So if I summarise based on the above setting, PGI can be done from VT02N and hence user do not need to do the PGI activity from delivery in that case.

Also does the packing info is also taken care using the activity profile setting in VT02N?

Hi Dipak,

Yes if PGI is enabled via Activity Profile, user do not need to perform PGI manually.

List of activities performed using activity profiles are -

1. Issue of log if any errors or warnings

2. Post goods issue for deliveries of shipment

3. Perform billing

4. Generate delivery items for Handling Units

5. Trigger Outputs
