Migration from on premise Enterprise Portal to SAP HANA Cloud Portal

Hi All,

What should be the starting point when we need to plan a Migration from the on premise Enterprise Portal solution to SAP HANA Cloud Portal.

Assuming that the existing on premise Enterprise Portal is hosting Custom WDJ solutions, WDA iViews, ESS/MSS , BI Reports etc, SAPUI5 solution, Java Application etc and they need to be migrated to SAP HANA Cloud Portal.

What should be the starting point, please advise.

Hi Saket,

In general, there is no migration flow from the on premise Enterprise Portal to SAP HANA Cloud Portal in place. Cloud Portal is a new product that was built from the ground up to allow an easy way for creating business site, leveraging the power of HANA Cloud Platform as the underlying platform. Cloud Portal offering - including the Sites and Fiori experiences - complements Enterprise Portal.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the prompt response.

Wondering if we can have a federation between on premise EP(producer) and SAP HANA Cloud Portal(Consumer). Then something like Remote role assignment between the two, any idea?

The FPN concept is not applicable in this scenario. You can consume data services from on premise systems using the SAP Cloud Connector and SAP Gateway services. The applications should be running in the cloud, fetching the data from the on premise network. You can find more info here.

Thanks for your response .

1)If FPN isn't possible , then the  out of box url widget, would this solve our purpose? Is it possible to configure the url of the IViews hosted on the on premise Enterprise Portal inside a url widget, this way whatever be the type of the iViews by providing the url the corresponding application could be called in the iFrame. Would this model have cross domain issue while fetching the application data from the on premise landscape on to Cloud ,which may be on different domains?

2)If url widget isn't a solution then please correct me if I am wrong the only way I can figure out is to develop either SAPUI5 or JAVA  applications for each of the Custom WDA /WDJ applications and for conventional business packages like ESS/MSS propose a Cloud Based Solutions like SF and then extend it from the Hana Cloud Portal as widgets.

3)And one more query in case we do not have a migration path, to cut short the effort what all components could be reused from the on premise solution to the HANA Cloud Portal.

Kindly advise.
