Hi,

Anybody running this?

I know that this is currently in "Controlled Availability" according to note 527843.

Apparently not...

Thanks,

Guenther

do you intend to migrate to 10g RAC?

What kind of information do need?

Hi Barthez,

Yes we are...

We wanted to see whether there is someone out there that already went through this upgrade pattern. We've spoken to Oracle's SAP experts in the US and Germany and were told that nobody has done the exact same upgrade (Sun Solaris, R/3 and BW) yet.

We are aware that 10g RAC is officially supported by both, SAP and ORA, but we wanted to get some real life information in order to evaluate overhead, performance etc.

We are in the process of setting up our own proof of concept as we speak.

Thanks,

Guenther

When ECC 6.0 was on ramp-up early 2005, we were candidates for using Oracle 10g on RAC. However if you notice from the note, it took time for SAP to finally update the note to explicitly say that the RAC setup cannot use raw device type and ASM.

That further limits the amount of customers who would want to try RAC on 10g.

Hi Aaron,

Yep, we are aware of the restrictions according to the note...

Thanks,

Hi Guenther,

actually 10gRAC on SUN Solaris is running well by many of non-SAP customers. I know of a very big customer in Germany with at least three installations on the way to become productive (probably by the end of 2007). The guy who has installed these RAC installations has written a very good and detailed documentation you can download from the sdn.

Basically the really way to test overhead/performance is to test for yourself.

Because of the RampUp phase on SUN you will get many help directly from Oracle in Walldorf
