Dear Gurus,

i need to know the different beetwen Physical samples and samples calculate during ispection lot creation.

I would like figure out in which scenary i can use physical samples and how t-code i can use in order to manage the following flow.

I find to search in standard sap documentation but i am not able to find a example logic for this object.

I have momently understood that the physical samples is used when i need to create a puntual samples in more good receipt (truck or other shippement) but i don't have very cleary the concept.

Thanks a lot

Daniele

Hi,

Physical sample management is normally used in process industries like Pharma/Food/chemical..

there are three types of physical samples in the system.

1. Primary samples

2. Pooled samples

3. Reserve samples or control samples or storage samples.

Lets say I received a material from a vendor 100 L solution supplied in two containers each 50 L.

Now I have to check this material . so I need to take samples from each container lets say I take 0.25 L from each container.

so my primary samples will become two (each 0.25 L) as I take sample from each container. Primary samples are the ones directly taken from inspection lot qty.

Now the above two primary samples are mixed to make a pooled sample. In my example it will become 0.25+0.25 = 0.5 L. Pooled samples are created by mixing primary samples. these pooled sample is used for analysis.

Reserve samples are taken from lot directly and not used for immediate analysis. they are stored for future reference as per regulatory norms. Normally they are destroyed once the expiry of the material is reached. in our case let say 0.5 L taken separately and stored

How many primary samples, how many pooled samples and how many reserve samples to be taken is defined in sample drawing Procedure T-code QPV2.

Sample drawing procedure is assigned to Inspection plan or routing or master recipe.  When inspection lot is created physical samples are created automatically. RR is done for each physical sample separately.

hope this helps.

Thanks
