Lumira Login Error "Check the Server Name and Instance ID"

Former Member

Dear Experts

I installed Lumira Desktop and was able to connect to the
HANA Server.

Later while I was working the software hanged and I had to
shut it down.

Now, after re-opening the software I receive error "Check the Server Name and Instance ID"
(though the server credentials are same as error and correct”

Any suggests on how to rectify

Hi Antonette,

I hope you have installed Lumira Desktop 64 bit on Windows 8?

Thanks,

Shailu.

Hallo Shailendar

Not sure, I'll have to check. Does it have to be 64?

HI Antonette,

Please try with hostname (for HANA server ) instead of IP Address.

Thanks

Kannan

Ok, Try Kannan's suggestion.. if it doesn't help.

please update the hosts file on the computer with HANA IP & Hostname and try again.

Thanks,

Shailu.

Thank you Shailendar

Is this a bug? Is it really necessary to modify the host file?

The error happens before entering any system details

Hi,

what he's suggesting is a standard IT practice. this is done to enable Name resolution to the IP address between the desktop and the server .

it's a necessary step, and the sort of thing networking team package and push down the client machines silently.

H

Hi Antonette,

I tried it again after some time making no changes and it worked. I believe this could be a bug. I would suggest that you check that the instance/port number is the same as the latest one when you open the db tunnel. It could be different every time you open the console client.

Also, the SAP HANA Administration console in eclipse provides all the visualization and analysis capabilities that Lumira does. So, you could consider that option as well.

I hope it helps.

Thanks and Regards

On my computer it works, but on the next computer it gives the error above.

Connecting to HANA from Lumira Desktop

Thanks

Hi Antonette,

Deleting the User Preference Folder.

Please delete the .sapvi folder from “C:\Users\Administrator” and re launch the Lumira and try to connect HANA.

Thanks

Hi Antonette,

Are you able to connect same HANA server using HANA studio?

Thanks

See that is the thing, on my computer, it works.

On the other computer (using my HANA logon credentials) it doesn't work. The user does not have HANA studio installed, but I do, and I log on just fine
