Hi Folks,
Was going through the admin guide related to hana backup catalogs housekeeping.
Now the question suppose i delete the backup catalog entries older than january 2015, what will happen if i want to restore an older backup.
Is there way to get those old catalog entries back?

You can re create backup catalog by using hdbbackupdiag.
hdbbackupdiag --generate --dataDir $DIR_INSTANCE/backup/data --logDirs $DIR_INSTANCE/backup/log -d $DIR_INSTANCE/backup/log

What is your HANA backup strategy? Do you use local disk? BACKINT or remote share for backups?
The housekeeping steps may change with the kind of backup strategy you have in place?

Even if its backup catalog entry was deleted, a physical backup can be restored. This requires some additional steps as described in SAP Note 1812057.
