Can table STXH, STXL, STXB be reduced?

Hi All,

Currently my team are doing some analysis for archiving object BC_ARCHIVE.

We have done the testing for the archiving object.

But after testing, we noticed that there is still no significant reduction to the system size.

We discovered that the table STXH, STXL and STXB consumed a lot of space in the BC_ARCHIVE.

But during testing the size of this three table have not reduce.

I wonder, can we reduced the size of this three table thru archiving?

If not, could someone enlighten me why is it so?

All your input are absolutely helpful.

Thanks,

Still learning.

Hi Afiq,

The mentioned tables are supposed to contain long texts from different applications and texts from SAPScript. So basically the table should be covered under different archive objects, not just BC_ARCHIVE.

You can go to transaction DB15, enter the table name and then you will get to know the list of other archiving objects which can help you reduce the data in these tables.

BC_ARCHIVE archives archive administration data. The long text that you entered for your archive runs is what is archived from STXH and STXL, but those tables contain the longtext from any application in your SAP system. e.g. from material master, from sales orders, from purchase orders, invoices, deliveries.....

If you want reduce the content of STXH and STXL then you have to do archive runs for all your other data.
