PI is using anonymous instead of user defined in Integration Builder channel

Has anyone seen the following issue?

We are having a problem in PI production with the authentication on the proxy since we upgraded to 7.4

The PI system uses a proxy user to connect to the German authority.

Since we upgraded to 7.4 whether or not the connection works is determined by the last person that logged on to the server.

This should not make any difference, since the integration builder is configured to use a proxy user to authenticate to the proxy for

the Elster communication channel.

However, the proxy logs shows that PI is using anonymous instead of the proxy user which is defined in the communication channel.

This is the cause of the symptom mentioned earlier.

We are on PO 7.4 SP08 and had a situation recently that sounds quite similar to yours. We were trying to remove the requirement to authenticate with a user credentials at the proxy to access the Internet. We argued that since this was a system to system access, it shouldn't need a user.

Anyway, while performing this switch we were getting inconsistent results. Sometimes access without user works, sometimes it does not - whilst access with user always works. We guessed it might probably be due to caching issues - after we tried accessing with user, then accessing without user works.

We never really proved the caching problem because we did not have access to the proxy logs. It eventually worked for us after the proxy team remove the restriction for user authentication when requests originated from the PI system.

Now that you brought it up, it does not sound right. I'd suggest you open a call with SAP on this (since you have access to the proxy logs, it is a stronger case). Getting SAP to fix this caching issue on the proxy would benefit everyone.
