SM_EXTERN_WS occupy all dialog workpocess

Hello Experts,

We are facing an issue with solution manager 7.1 Sp11 system. All the dialog work process are occupied by SM_EXTERN_WS user.

Workprocess are in running state, & writing entries in different tables. As all the Dia processes are occupied system performance degraded, response time is very high & users have to wait for long to access any transaction.

Can you help if it is possible to limit the use of SM_EXTERN_WS user or related functionalities to few workprocess instead of increasing the no. of wp.

Regards,

Ankit

Hi Ankit,

by changing below parameter we can restrict.

rdisp/max_alt_modes     Maximum number of alternative modes

login/disable_multi_gui_login     disable multiple sapgui logons (for same SAP account)

rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp

Go through below thread.

Hi Srinivasan,

Still issue persist all above parameters you suggest are maintained.

rdisp/rfc_min_wait_dia_wp = 5

rdisp/http_min_wait_dia_wp = 5

SM_EXTERN_WS & SM_EFWK occupy all the dialog processes.

Hi,

We had similar issue with our Solution Manager system. And the reason is it is trying to update, delete or commit being run by this user on few DB tables for which we are not having updated stats.

So we updated stats for those tables and after that system is back to normal.

Our DB was Sybase and we had SAP note 1757691, which can help us run stats for all tables at one shot.

You can also automate this stats update by enabling ATM for Sybase databases. For our case we already enabled it but it was not running problem due to error in some tables.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ankit,

You can change the maximum number of work processes used by extractor framework. Go to workcenter solution manager administration -> Infrastraucture -> Extractor Frame work -> Configuration Tab. Here select the maximum number of dialog processes you want to use in SOLMAN_DIALOG_WORKPROCESSES.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks and Regards
