Extend Disk Space

Former Member

Hi,

We just gone live with Business Suite on HANA last month. With few weeks of backup, the disk space for backup is not enough. We would like to extend the disk space.

May I know what is the command to extend the disk space? Do I need to stop the SAP and HANA before extend?

Will I lose the existing data in the backup folder?

Thank you.

regards,

zl

Hi Ning,

Ok.

I would like to increase the filesystem for /hana/hana-backup by 100GB.

Just to confirm, is the following command correct?

lvextend -L +100G /dev/mapper/vgHANA-lv--hana--backup

resize2fs /dev/mapper/vgHana-lv--hana--backup

You should ask in service market place as HANA is a new concepts and not much discussion available in public discussions

It is advisable to keep your backups on tape rather than on disk.

Hi ZL,

In the longer run you should also consider moving data-backup to tapes rather than having it on disk. You can keep 2 most recent back-ups on drive and move the rest to tapes.

This will also help you in improving the data-backup performance.

Hi ZL,

Just a easy search in Google about Linux extend file system or disk space.

You do not need to stop SAP and HANA.

Existing backup data is not lost.
