SAP PI : How to connect to ERP

Hello ,

I do not come from SAP PI background.

So I wanted to understand :

1. How good SAP PI is while planning the connectivity with SAP ERP ( PM ).

2. How to connect SAP PM with OSI soft PI ?

Hi Ankit,

1. SAP PI is native tool for connecting with SAP ERP, You can use RFC, IDOC, PROXY (ABAP/JAVA client or server connectivity via SOAP), web services. It even could have already some content for connectivity of some interfaces and process with SAP PM.

2. As I know OSI soft PI system have a lot of interfaces for connectivity with different DCS, SCADA, PLC systems and also business systems ,SAP, Oracle. Also it could be integrated through ODBC, JDBC. So it will be not a problem to connect it with SAP PI or even SAP ERP directly.

We have a need of performing condition based monitoring for few of the plant devices using from OSI soft PI in to SAP PM.

Could you suggest any document on JDBC / PCo connectivity where I can do a step by step approach to connect my OSI PI with SAP PI.
