Operating system call connect failed (error no. 55 )

Hi all, I keep getting the above error in the SM21 of my SAP ECC 6.0 system. It happens every 5 mins consistently. The type is SPO and the MNo is Q0I with user SAPSYS.

I have checked SM37 but cannot find a single consistent job that causes this.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thank you!

Hi,

This basically inidcates a possible network issue when you do a printing Job.

Have you also checked the corresponding work process trace dev_w* file?

Hi Biborka,

Thanks for your reply.

I have figured out the issue.

The issue is related to the printer, and I am trying to remove this printer from background jobs where it has been used.

Thanks every one for your suggestions.

Thanks

Hari.

in SM21, double-click on the error message, find which WP number has the issue and go see the DEV trace.

so, if WP is 22, go see contents on file dev_w22.

this should help you start your troubleshooting.

thanks

Hi Eric,

This is what I see in dev_WXX

NiBufIConnect: connection pending after 10240ms: connect (55: Operation now in progress) [nibuf.cpp 4658]

NiBufIConnect: non-buffered connect pending after 10240ms (hdl 16;10.33.67.45:515) [nibuf.cpp    4666]

Thanks

Hari.

Hi,

As far as I know, this kind of issue can occur in case of network problems if you try to print directly to printers rather than through a spool server as is recommended.

You can also refer to SAP Note 64628 -"Using network printers from R/3" .
