Hi Surya,

Value categories maintained here are always displayed in the order even if they don't have cost allocated to them.

The deleted value category will not appear in the cost tab of order.

This change will reflect in old orders also.

The cost against the deleted value category will appear under blank head for old orders.

Hi Abhijit,

Thanks for the reply.

The deleted value category is not displaying in Work order, if cost is not there against deleted value category.

Example: Consider Value category ABC have estimated cost against it in work order.

We have deleted value category ABC from path:

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Maintenance and Service Processing -> Basic Settings -> Settings for Display of Costs -> Define Default Values for Value Categories

and updated infostructure for the same, still we could see Value category ABC in work order.

Kindly suggest me how could we eliminate the same.

Best Regards

Surya

Have you tried removing the value categories from below path:

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Maintenance and Service Processing --> Basic Settings --> Settings for Display of Costs --> Maintain Value Categories:

User Component: PM     Controlling Area: (Your specific Controlling Area)

If you remove Value category from this setting, I think it would be displayed in Order as blank. But the Cost will still be displayed in blank value category.

Other effects of this will be if you remove value category from above path, it will not allow the Cost settlement in KO88/ KO8G.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Also, I would still like to know why would your like to remove the value category when the cost is still displayed.

Your reply would help in providing you the appropriate solution by members.

Hello Chintan,

Thanks for your reply.

Here is why we are planning to delete the unused Value categories.

Our client was facing an issue regarding cost differences in Work order cost report and MCI3 cost report. We found resolution as to delete some Duplicate value categories, because these value categories were causing duplication of cost in MCI3 report. After deleting these duplicate value categories in path -

Plant Maintenance -> Information Systems for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service->Assign Value Categories to Maintenance Cost Key Figures

and updating infostructures cost is matching in work order and MCI3 cost report.

Now business is asking to hide the unused value categories being displayed in work order costing tab which have been deleted as per afore said request.

When we were analysing the things to hide unused Value categories, we found some of Work orders have Estimated cost against theseValue categories.

Thanks and Regards

The value category will be displayed when the estimated (planned) cost or actual cost is involved.

If there is no cost in any value category it will directly hide itself from work order costing tab. There is no method to hide or unhide the same from that tab.

The estimated/ planned cost comes when you have done any material planning (like reservation or PR) or service planning towards the order.

I hope you are comparing the Maintenance order's Actual Cost (and not the plan cost) with MCI3 report and it should be same.

If you are comparing the actual cost and still getting the difference or if you are getting any value category, please share the screenshot of the same which would help to understand your issue clearly.

Hope i have made it clear.

Hi Chintan,

I agree with your cost display suggestion.

We have resolved the cost difference issue by deleting duplicate Value
category and removing assignment of cost element group from corresponding value
category.

After resolving the cost difference issue, business is asking us to
hide/remove unused value categories from cost tab of Work order.

We found a path to do the same - Plant Maintenance and Customer
Service -> Maintenance and Service Processing -> Basic Settings ->
Settings for Display of Costs -> Define Default Values for Value Categories.

We have tried to delete the Value categories and observed that:

1) Consider Value category ABC have estimated cost against it in work order.

We have deleted value category ABC from path:

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Maintenance and Service
Processing -> Basic Settings -> Settings for Display of Costs ->
Define Default Values for Value Categories

and updated infostructure for the same, still we could see Value category
ABC in work order.

2) Consider Value category XYZ not having any cost against it in work order.

We have deleted value category XYZ from same path and updated infostructure
for the same, now we could not see Value category XYZ in cost tab of work
order.

From this we understand that Value category having cost against it cannot be
hidden from cost tab of work order.

Now we are surprised to see that, how estimated cost is displaying against
deleted value categories and removing cost element group assignment.

Kindly help me if we have any other way to remove these unused value categories from cost tab of Work order.

Best Regards

Surya
