Eclipse Kepler or Hana Studio ?

Hi Experts,

M learning SAP BW Powered by SAP HANA.

So, I have installed  Eclipse-Kepler instead of Hana Studio.

I wanted to know if all functionalities which are there in Hana Studio can be supported in Eclipse-Kepler ?

To install the Hana Studio in my machine, I need a SAP Partner ID.

What is this Partner ID ?

From where will I get this Partner ID.

Please let me know if I can download and install hana studio by my own and also provide me the link from where I can download and install it.

Hi Shruti,

SAP HANA studio part of HANA DB software and HANA DB is a license software from SAP .

I dont think you can get the studio other then service market place.

Before installing HANA studio ,Do you have HANA DB install on some server?

I mean without HANA DB there is no use of HANA studio.

Hi Atul,

I got free access to Hana Server ( SAP Hana Cloud Platform- Trial Instance ).

I followed this link - SAP HANA Cloud Platform

I registered there and created my account.

Then I created the Hana Instance.

So m in assumption that this HANA Instance will act as a HANA Server System for me.

Please correct me if M wroung and guide me the further steps.

It is eclipse based tool to interact with hana database.

There are couple of perspective available which can be use in different way.

I would like to add few more points to Atul Jain.

The answer for your question -

Yes, there are additional perspective supported in the eclipse which are not available in Hana Studio.

Hana Studio comes with the predefined sets of perspective whereas while installing eclipse , you need to add the plugins for perspective on which you want to work on.

The additional perspective in eclipse are-

1) ABAP Connectivity & Integration

2) BW Modeling

3) CVS Repository Exploring

4) Git

5) OData

6) Perspective

7) Planning

😎 Profiling

9) Remote System Explorer

10) SAP Identity Management Develop Studio

Otherwise, the look and feel of Hana Studio is more or less same as Eclipse.
