shipment number in SD

Hello SD Gurus,

Can the shipment number (VT01N) be re-used?

For example: Shipment number is deleted....can it be regenerated?

Hello Lyn,

If you require this behavior, then try to create Shipment Document via an Idoc using this function module IDOC_INPUT_SHIPPL.

Because when you create a Shipment document via an Idoc, you are suppose to provide the shipment document no# in this segment E1TPSHH-Shipment Number. Hence, i think it's possible to reuse a shipment number in this case.

But with VT01n, it shouldn't be possible to reuse the shipment number since it's generated via number range. You make use of following info about the Idoc:

Status: 64

Direction: 2 = INBOUND

Rec.Port: SAPQA6

Rec.Partner-Type: LS

Rec.Partnernum.: BPE_900

Send.Port: TPS_CARLO

Send.Partner-Type: LS

Send.Partnernum.: TPS_CARLO

Messagetype: SHIPPL

IDoctype: TPSSHT01

Idoc will be processed by IDOC_INPUT_SHIPPL

Hi

Once a number is used it can't be resued and this is not only for shipment document but all documents in SAP except those which are fiscal year specific like matreial document or accounting document etc.

Once the Shipment document is deleted, it cannot be reused/ regenerated.
