BW on HANA and migration of other db

HI experts,

we are currently running BW on HANA and recently got a request of migrating another Oracle db into HANA and build some sort of GUI on top of that.

The data from this oracle db should not be in BW, but only in HANA.

My first thought was to put this data in a separate schema in HANA, but Im not 100% sure this is the right way to go? The data needs to be separated from BW.

Anyone with experience of this?

Many thanks!

BR

Max

Dear Max,

Data for BW-on-HANA will sit on BW schema in HANA DB.

Like you said, you can also create a HANA schema in the same DB to stores non-BW related data for your datamart (usually for native HANA development or other reporting/dashboard tools to access e.g. Lumira, Tableau etc).

You may need to check with SAP regarding the licensing for production systems due to they have restrictions as mentioned by Ning. The way the license BW-on-HANA is different from "native" HANA. You should check if your usage/design are compliant.

Cheers,

Nic

Hello Max,

Regarding to use multiple schema in HANA, please refer to 1661202 - Support for multiple applications on SAP HANA

Restriction (if not use SAP multitenant database)

- Non-production system

- Production systems for application on "whitelists"

Also consider note 1666670 - SAP BW powered by SAP HANA - Landscape Deployment Planning
