SAML 2.0 Supported in SMP 3.0 or just HCPms?

Hello!

In this post, it is written that SP05 on-premise doesn’t support SAML, but SAML authentication is supported in SAP HANA Cloud Platform mobile services. It's also written in this post as well (that SAML support is provided via SAP HCP Mobile services).
Finally, SAP's own Help documentation (SDK side) writes the same thing here ("SAML Authentication works only with SAP HANA Cloud Platform mobile services)"

However, this portion of the SMP documentation (server side) has a section on "Configuring Settings for the SAML2 Trusted Identity Provider".

Either I'm not understanding something glaringly obvious or one of the SAP documents might need to be updated.

So does SMP 3.0 support SAML 2.0? Thanks!

SAML2 authentication provider has been added from SMP3 SP05 runtime onward (ref guide). Also to be noted that SMP3 SP06 Mobile SDK was released along with SP05 runtime.

So to work with SAML2, you must have minimum SMP3 SP05 runtime and SMP3 SP06 Mobile SDK.

Note:Refer this this guide for more inputs.

Latest Runtime version is (SP06 PL02) and Mobile SDK (SP07 PL01)

JK

Hi Jeffrey,

SAML authentication was added in SMP 3 SP05 runtime.

The author of the blog is mentioning SMP SDK SP05. When SDK SP05 was released the server version available was SP04 hence SAML was not supported with on-premise version. But SAML support in HCPms was added earlier to release of SMP 3 SP05 runtime hence you can use SDK SP05.

Hope that clarifies your confusion.

Regards, Midhun
