gui_upload in Integrated ITS (6.40)

we recently upgraded our SRM SERVER TO SP18 6.40. after the upgrade, the program that used ws_filename_get FM is showing up the file dialog to select a file as a Java Applet.

but in previous versions, it was just showing file dialog, not an applet. is it a bug / improvement. if it is a bug, is there any fix. i have seen some notes about interim screens when bringing up the APPLETS, but my rek is not to have that APPLET at all, but just a file dialog that used to appear before the upgrade.

this is executed as SAP GUI HTML iview in portal.

Hi Reddy,

webgui uses a java applet to access local resources of the PC. It is not possible to disable it. Normally you should not even notice that a java applet is being used.

thanks for the reply.

the problem is with the distribution of jre to the users..

how come it used to work without JRE installed in the previous Support pack..

was it changed with SP18, I mean the function module?

Hi Reddy,

the requirement of a JRE is not new but exists since the early days of webgui. Thats nothing that came with SP18. I checked WS_FILENAME_GET and there were made no changes in any SP in 6.40. Are you sure that this came with Sp18?
