Hi all,
I have a NW 7.00 system just migrating from Windows to Linux and in SM21 I'm seeing
"central system log cannot be read /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/SLOGJ"
Now SM21 still has some messages in it AOK so it must have it's local log to read, but it has no additional application servers so I see no technical need for collection of other logs into a central log.
Any idea then if
a) this should be ignored
b) there is parameter setting somewhere so that it knows not even to look for a central log
c) if there is some other likely error here to fix
I've tried testing by creating this log - that works AOK using "touch" but still the error appears.
and the notes posted there but no resolution is forthcoming - in fact the SAP notes mentioned (also below) are focused on collection of remote logs into a central log and so don't really apply to my scenario.
I'm hoping a new discussion may kick this on.
Cheers, Jamie
Hello Jamie,
if you do not need the central syslog you can deactivate it by setting the parameter:
rslg/collect_daemon/host = NONE
as described in the note:
900201 - Deactivating central system log

Apply sap note 1941591. This should fix the problem
